In order to review the preparedness for the celebration of 'Van Mahotsava', District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar today convened a meeting of District and Sectoral Officers of different Departments in the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex Udhampur.The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, GM DIC Suram Chand Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Development, Noor Alam, SDM Basant Garh Attar Chand, Chief Planning Officer Ashok Khajuria, District Information Officer, Sajad Bashir Somberia, District Social Welfare Officer Vipan Bhagat, Chief Education Officer J.R Bhardwaj, Chief Medical Officer Dr.K.C Dogra, DFO Social Forestry Jugal Gupta, Executive Engineer REW Bashir Sheikh and other district officers.Other Officers including BDOs and Range Officers were also present in the meeting.Detailed discussion were held on various issues regarding the celebration of Van Mahotsava like plantation drive, Convergence with forest department, Plantation drive on community, state land and in government and private institutions.While addressing the meeting, the DDC said that it is our collective responsibility to plant trees during monsoon adding that the need of the hour is to join hands to protect the green gold and carry out plantation drives in large number. The DDC directed DFOs & ACD to start a massive plantation drive under convergence programme.The DDC also instructed the concerned officers to plant trees in and around the educational institutions, streets and different towns of the district with the help and active participation of general public as well as students and teachers of educational institution.
