DC Kupwara visits border areas, inspects development works

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir during his two-day extensive tour of Karnah sub-division inspected various ongoing developmental works there besides conducted public darbar to address public grievances.The public grievance redressal camp at Tangdhar village witnessed overwhelming participation of people during which locals apprised the DC about developmental issues.Issues pertaining to PMGSY and R&B, need for deployment of staff in health and education departments, adequate supply and availability of ration at FCS&CA Stores were projected by public deputations. Upgradation of schools and improved facilities in Primary Health Centres were also raised during the darbar.Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah Dr Aliyas , Tehsildar Karnah, Exen PWD, BMO Tanghdar, BDO  prominent citizens besides locals participated in the grievance redressal camp.The DC also visited Degree College Tangdhar and directed the concerned to ensure completion of the under construction structures by August 15 including landscaping and fencing of the College. He also visited High School Nachyan and inspected the under construction School building. He directed the concerned to expedite the pace of work and complete it within one month.  He also inspected the helipad site and directed for its completion by the end of August 2018.

He also took stock of the damage caused by flash floods and landslides in Teetwal area besides interacted with the affected and assured them of every help for their rehabilitation by the district administration.He directed the authorities of I&FC to ensure flood protection measures towards obviating threats and loss of life and property as a result of these natural calamities in future.  He directed the SDM to process the cases of the affected families for grant of relief from the SDRF.For convenience and for encouraging the flow of tourists in the border areas, land was identified and the concerned were directed to initiate the process for the preparation of DPR for the construction of Tourist Facilitation Centre.During the visit, DC also took stock of various farming practices being adopted at Dringla Agricultural Farm. He suggested intervention of experts for the adoption of best farming practices, introduction of new hybrid varieties of fruits and vegetables and recourse to organic farming for better yield and rich dividends.He also inspected two CRF roads and issued on-spot directions for the construction of drainage, protective bunds for facilitating safe and better road transportation facilities in such inhospitable terrain to the people of the area.DC also held public interaction at Teethwal, Taad, Gabra and Hajitara areas of the subdivision.Meanwhile, DC directed the officers of the sub-division not to leave their headquarters without prior permission from competent authorities to ensure prompt delivery of services to the people. He directed the SDM to communicate attendance of officials of the subdivision on weekly basis.
