A Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joint delegation today visited the PGIMER here and inquired into the health of two forest officials who were murderously assaulted by the sand mafia in Majri block of Mohali yesterday.The delegation, which was led by SAD vice president Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and BJP General Secretary Organisation Dinesh Kumar, inquired into the health of block forest officer Davinder Singh who was seriously injured in yesterday’s assault and had to undergo head surgery today morning. They also interacted with the family members of the two forest officials.Dr Cheema said it was pitiable that Davinder Singh was lying in a miserable condition on a stretcher in a corridor of the surgery ward at the PGIMER when the delegation called on him.
He said Davinder’s close relative Ramnik Singh informed the delegation that the State government had not even tried to get a room earmarked for Davinder for his recuperation and that they were being pressurized to get Davinder discharged. Following this both Dr Cheema and Mr Dinesh Kumar spoke to the PGI Director and asked him to arrange a room for Davinder to ensure his speedy recuperation. The BJP Organizing Secretary also called up the office of the Union health minister and apprised his OSD of the situation and requested that the forest officials including Davinder and Beldar Karnail Singh be given appropriate beds to recuperate from their injuries.The SAD- BJP delegation members, which included SAD Kharar leader Ranjit Singh Gill and Office Secretary Charanjit Singh Brar, also interacted with family members on the occasion and ensured them that the SAD would do its utmost to ensure they got justice in the case.
