The Punjab Government is all set to start the first academic session at the newly built veterinary college at Rampur Phull. The session would be started after the due approval of Veterinary Council of India.It was disclosed by Balbir Singh Sidhu, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, while presiding over a high level meeting to take stock of the preparedness of the department to commence operation at this new veterinary college. He said that the motive behind the establishment of this college is to promote the auxiliary occupation of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, besides producing new veterinary scientists.This college would be affiliated with the Guru Angad Dev veterinary and Animal Sciences University. During the meeting, Mr. A.S. Nanda, Vice Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev veterinary and Animal Sciences University apprised the minister that proposal for the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff for this university has already been put before the Punjab Government. Mr. Sidhu directed the Additional Chief Secretary of the department Dr. G. Vajralingam to personally take up the matter with the finance department and get the sanction for recruitment of the staff for this veterinary college. Dr. Vajralingam divulged the detail that proposal for the recruitment of 88 veterinary scientist and 165 non-teaching staff, which included clerks, laboratory technicians and field workers, has been put forwarded by the university. He said that sanction for the recruitment soon be taken from the finance department.Prominent other, who were present in the meeting, included Mr. Gurcharan Singh Dhaliwal, Dean, Veterinary College, Rampura Phull and Dr. Amarjit Singh, Director, Animal Husbandry.
