Aiming to train and make the youths fully 'skilled', Technical Education, Industrial Training, Employment Generation, Science and Technology Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday said that Punjab government will open new skill development centres in the state for each industry so that they could not face any kind of problem in getting employment and good packages in Punjab.Channi said this while inaugurating a mega job fair organized by Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU). In the job fair, 73 business houses from various parts of the state took part and 3800 youths got registered them for several kinds of trades in which 1680 got appointment letters. The trades include Welder, Fitter, Electrician, Computer Operator, Sales Associates, Turner, Accountants, and others. These Skill Development Centres will offer free training to the youths and will make them fully 'expertise' in the various trades so that they can get good packages from the industries once they complete their training, added minister.

The minister told that soon, the technical education department is also going to upgrade the curriculum of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to meet the present needs of the industry in the state. He targeted the previous SAD-BJP government for giving no attention towards the jobs creation in the state and claimed they made just false promises but Punjab government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has been making strenuous efforts to provide employment to the youths.
