Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab organized a one day training programme for the Special Juvenile Police Officers to train them regarding their role and responsibility  in relation to Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.Disclosing this official spokesperson of the Social Security Department said that the Police Personnel of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police , Sub Inspectors and Assistant Sub Inspectors were trained on the various provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. The training was conducted in two batches with the assistance of Bachpan Bachao Andolan. These Special Juvenile Police Officers and Child Welfare Police Officers have been designated as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 to deal with cases of children.  Under the training programme, various sections of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, Child Marriage Act, 2005, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and Child Labour along with the practical problem confronted were addressed.  In training programme the coordination of police officials with other stakeholders such as DCPOs, CWC, JJB, Health etc. was emphasized to efficiently implement the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.  Mr. K.B.S. Sidhu, Special Chief Secretary, Social Security Department enlightened the participants toward their sensitivity while dealing with children. Mr. K.S. Pannu, IAS, Secretary, Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Mrs. Kavita Singh, IAS, Director Social Security have also shared their experiences as well as various services provided by the state government for protection of child rights.The spokesperson further said that the sensitization programme will be continued in Jalandhar with participation of police official from rest of the districts of Punjab.
