Capt Amarinder owes no explanation for campaigning in DSGMC polls

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today made it categorically clear that he did not owe any explanation to anyone for campaigning in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Managing Committee (DSGMC) elections in support of Paramjit Singh Sarna.Referring to the statement made by a party leader, the PCC President said, he was within his rights to campaign for Mr Sarna and he had not done it for the first time. “I have campaigned for Mr Sarna twice earlier also and will always do as long as he opposes the Badals (Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Badal)”, Capt Amarinder said, in no ambiguous terms, while making it clear that those opposing support to Sarna were actually trying to help Badals.He said, there was no ideological issue of secularism involved anywhere since the entire Punjab government machinery led by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Chief Minister son Sukhbir Badal had descended on Delhi in a bid to usurp the Delhi gurdwaras with an eye on their assets and income. He said, it is in everybody’s interest to save the Delhi gurdwaras from the Badals lest these meet the same fate as those in Punjab which the Badals have been robbing and looting for a long time.
