Students hit streets across Kashmir to protest Shopian Killings

As the life limped back towards normalcy after four days of protests and shutdown over the Shopian killings hundreds of students held protest demonstrations in across Kashmir today.In Srinagar hundreds of students of Kashmir University (KU) assembled on the campus and held protests. The students were carrying banners, which read: “Stop genocide in Kashmir. Stop killings”. However, there were no reports of violence. Female students too participated in these protests and raised anti-India slogans.Similarly protests were held on the campus of Central University Kashmir (CUK) in Srinagar. The students of various colleges in Srinagar also held protests soon after they re-opened after three-day closure over Shopian civilian and militant killings.Reports said that dozens of students assembled at the Bemina Degree College and tried to take out a protest rally against the recent killings in south Kashmir districts. Similarly, the students of Amar Singh College in summer capital Srinagar took out a protest demonstration outside the college premises.Meanwhile Protesting Students of set a force’s picket ablaze amid intense clashes with government forces. Also, the students of Islamia College of Science and Commerce at Hawal also tried to take out a protest rally. However, forces personnel fired tear gas to disperse the protesting students.In North Kashmir, scores of students of Degree College Kupwara clashed with government forces in this north Kashmir district against the recent killings in south Kashmir. Raising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans, the students tried to march towards the road.Hundreds of students at Higher Secondary School Pattan also held a peaceful protest demonstration within the school premises, against the recent civilian killings in the Valley. Similarly, clashes erupted between youth and government forces in volatile Pallahalan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.Students of Degree College Sumbal also protest demonstration against the civilian and militant killings in south Kashmir. Similarly, protest also held other parts of Kashmir as well. (PTK)
