Labour Department organizes awareness camp at Anantnag

An awareness programme regarding the implementation of various state and centrally sponsored schemes was  organised by the Labour Department here today.MLA Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather was Chief Guest of the function. The MLA distributed cheques worth Rs 21 lakh among the registered beneficiaries and inaugurated online registration process in presence of District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik.On the occasion, 143 fresh registration cards were also distributed among the labours by the MLA.The MLA said that government is very keen regarding the upliftment of the labour class and various   welfare schemes have been launched for their welfare.  He expressed pleasure and satisfaction over the functioning of the Labour Department. He instructed the officers of the Department to create mass awareness among the people regarding its schemes and programmes so that benefit reaches the maximum beneficiaries. 

Meanwhile, DDC Anantnag while interacting with the labours, said that need of the hour is to aware each and every labourer of the district to get themselves registered with the department and take benefit of various welfare schemes for which he impressed the concerned officers to put in concerted efforts in this regard.He further added that the Department should undertake a proper survey to ensure that the benefits are availed by the deserving ones. The DDC further detailed about different schemes for the welfare of the labour class including financial assistance for education, marriage, treatment of chronic diseases, maternity benefits, etc.Among others present in the function were the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Officers of the JKEDI and large number  of labourers from various parts of the district.
