The Shiromani Akali Dal urged the State Election Commission to convene an all party meeting to listen to the suggestions and grievances of the political parties before Ludhiana MC polls.A written request was sent to the commission by SAD spokesman and former Education Minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema today. In a detailed letter written to the Commission Cheema highlighted the shortcomings in the recently held civic polls when notification was done without preparing voter lists. He appealed to the Commission to ensure that all officers who are competent to issue NOCs must be available in their offices to all the nominees and should not sit at the houses of ruling party MLAs.Similarly at the time of filing of nominations if there is any deficiency in the papers it should be pointed out in writing to the nominees to avoid any dispute later on.

Dr Cheema also wanted that all polling booths should be monitored through videography and keeping in view the large scale booth capturing and misuse of government machinery in the recently held elections central forces are must for free and fair elections. In addition staff on polling duty should be assigned duties on polling booths randomly through computers by the commission himself and should not be left to ROs.The SAD also appealed to the commission to ensure that observers remain neutral and district administration should be held responsible for strict enforcement of law and order.
