Member Legislative Assembly and Sr State Vice President National Conference Surjeet Singh Slathia on Saturday lashed out at peace inimical forces for pursuing regional and communal agenda to weaken the secular fabric of Jammu and Kashmir.“National Conference has always stood against these elements and foiled their attempts to destablise the state and create impediments in its odyssey to peace and harmony”, Mr Slathia said while addressing public meetings at Barjani and Bari Brahamana in Vijaypur constituency this afternoon. In this context, Mr Slathia referred to the negative role being played by BJP and PDP with an avowed objective of flaring up passions to incite sentiments of the innocent people. However, he exuded confidence that people will foil their machinations by maintaining unity and promoting harmony as ever before. The former minister expressed optimism about secular forces meeting the challenge of communal elements by strengthening the bonds of amity between the communities and the regions.

He sought massive support for Mr Madan Lal Sharma, the candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency.

“Registering victory is not a big deal but we have to ensure Mr Sharma’s victory with a massive margin”, Mr Slathia told the enthusiastic crowd, adding that this will be acknowledgement of the initiatives taken by Omar led government and policies and programmes of NC led by Dr Farooq Abdullah.

Mr  Slathia said that the coalition  government has ensured equitable development of all the regions  of the State adding that the main thrust has been on infrastructural development and improving the conditions of the people to enable them lead prosperous and dignified life. He said the current developmental landscape of the State has unnerved the opponents who were now resorting to unethical means by playing with the sentiments of the people for their political interest. The Sr Vice President also dwelt on people friendly initiatives of the government and said that several revolutionary measures have been taken to make the administration responsive their needs. “This initiative will get further boost with the support and cooperation of the people”, he said.
