Dussehra marking the victory of good over evil was celebrated today with religious fervour across Jammu region.The main function was held at Parade Ground Jammu where the effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbkaran and son Megnath were consigned to flames. The function was organized by Sanatan Dharam Sabha (SDS) in which Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh was the chief guest.Deputy Chief Minister while addressing the gathering greeted the people on this auspicious occasion and said that the day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. “It’s is not possible to save humanity without wiping out the evil”, Dr Nirmal Singh said adding that World forces should unite to fight against the evil.
Stressing on the importance of celebrating such religious events, Dr Nirmal Singh said that such occasions provide us an opportunity to introspect and further improve our attitude and behaviour to become a good human being.Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Minister of State for Education and Tourism, Priya Sethi, Legislators, Sat Sharma and Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Senior Political leader Yudhvir Sethi, besides President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Bodh Raj Sharma, General Secretary Sanatan Dharam Sabha Parbhat Singh Jamwal, Mahant of Purani Mandi temple Swami Rameshwar Dass and various other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
