District Development Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmad Zargar today convened a meeting to review the pace of ongoing development works in the district.The meeting was attended by ACD, Chief Planning Officer, CEO Tourism, SDM Surankote ,SDM Mendhar, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, besides Executive Engineers of PWD, PMGSY, PHE, and PDD.While reviewing the pace of works, the DDC impressed upon the executing agencies to follow quality specifications and timelines while executing development works in the district. He stressed on the need of following set timelines for the completion of key developmental projects.The meeting held threadbare discussions on bottlenecks hindering the timely execution of projects and directions were given for expediting the works with better synergy.He also called for interdepartmental coordination in pursuing court cases and fulfillment of others codal formalities for early execution of various development works.

Earlier, the meeting was apprised by Public Works Department about pace and progress of various development projects. It was said that work on Government Degree College Surankote is in final stages of completion, while as remaining works on mini Secretariat buildings at Poonch and Mendhar would be expedited for their early completion. CEO Tourism informed the meeting that two Tourist Reception Centers (TRCs)at Surankote and Mendhar were completed; whereas works on other three (TRCs) at Budha Amaranth, Sain Meira Baksh and Nangali Sahib are in progress.The DDC assessed the status of various roads being constructed by PWD and works under PMGSY and water supply schemes, bridges, Polytechnic College, construction works on SDH Mandi, Mendhar and works on PHCs in the district.He also discussed the pace of works on Hostels for Gujjar and Bakarwal students, SSA buildings and Girls hostels.
