Minister for Public Work Naeem Akhtar today visited far flung areas of district Ganderbal to review the developmental works and assess the needs of the people.The Minister gave on the spot direction for redress of various problems and directed the officials to expedite various projects without compromising on quality.The Minister visited Batpora, Batwina, Bozhama and Khurbagh, which are on the border areas of District Ganderbal touching district Bandipora.Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganai, Chief Engineer R&B and officials of other departments accompanied the Minister.The Minister listened to the grievances of the people regarding road widening, macdamization, power situation, water supply and other issues. The Minister gave on the spot direction for macadamisation of road from Shadipora bridge to Batpora. The people demanded that their area should be given backward status due to lack of various facility in the area. The Minister also directed the Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal to submit a report for shifting the local sub center from a private building into vacant government building.
At Batwina people complained of lack of medical staff and ambulance at the PHC Batwina. They also demanded that the main road should be macadamized and Higher Secondary School be upgraded and Dub irrigation canal be de-silted. The Minister directed the concerned officials to address the issues at the earliest. He also assured the officials to explore the possibility of sanctioning agriculture sub centre at the area for development of the vital sector.The people of Khurbagh demanded that the file approving change of name of the area be approved at the earliest. They also demanded backward status for their area. The Minister directed the officials to conduct awareness camps in the area so that people get to know about various developmental schemes and livelihood of youth is ensured.The Minister also visited the 220 metre under Construction Bridge at Bozhama. The bridge is being constructed at the cost of Rs 20.3 crores. The Minister directed the officials to acquire the structure at the earliest so that a major impediment for the construction is removed. At Bozhama the Minister also approved a public park for the area.The Minister assured the public that major projects have been taken up and will be approved the district development board meeting.
