Senior Congress leader and former union mister, Prof Saif-ud-din Soz Wednesday said that the central government should accept the inevitability of initiating the dialogue process in Kashmir with the Hurriyat leadership.“There is no doubt that the Union of India committed many mistakes in its constitutional relationship with Kashmir. It is also an established fact of history that those who don’t learn from their mistakes, tend to repeat these (mistakes),” Soz said in a statement issued to KNS.He said that as a concerned citizen, “I have a kind of fear lurking in my mind that the Union may go wrong again by deciding to initiate the dialogue process in Jammu and Kashmir with the leaders of what they call the mainstream parties. That will certainly be a disastrous move by the Union of India.”“I don’t think mainstream parties would come forward for participating in such a dialogue. I wish PM Modi would not fall into the trap of the ill conceived agency centric proposal,” he said, adding that “at this point of time, it is a writing on the wall for the Union of India to initiate a dialogue with the Hurriyat leadership, at the earliest, as that process alone would yield any meaningful results.”“My case is not that the mainstream parties won’t participate in the dialogue process; but, such a situation will naturally arise after the representatives of the union have initiated the dialogue process with the Hurriyat leadership,” Soz added.
