Thirty days or one month is too short a period, but when you make pre-poll promises of setting everything right on day one and eradicate drugs from Punjab in one month, then we can't avoid commenting on your thirty days in office, said Punjab BJP secretary, Vineet Joshi, on the completion of Captain Amarinder Singh's one month in office. Joshi was flanked by state vice-president Sardar Harjit Singh Grewal, Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura and state secretary Vijay Puri.Addressing a press conference here Joshi said, “The head of the Special Task Force (STF) to combat the drugs menace joined the anti-drug body two weeks after it was announced and just two day ahead of completion of Capt. Amarinder Singh’s one month pledge, the STF was formally notified. This reflects the seriousness of his promise to eradicate drugs with ‘Gutka Sahib’ in hand”.Capt. Amarinder Singh completed his one month in office today and so did his oath of eradicating drugs from Punjab. Demanding a statement, BJP Leaders said, “Have you made Punjab drug free”?

"With the civil and police administration at his disposal, by now he must have gauged the magnitude of  drug menace in Punjab. Capt. Amarinder Singh should now substantiate his and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's allegation that 78% Punjabis are drug addicts with evidence or he should tender an apology for defaming Punjabis", said the Punjab BJP leaders.Stepping up the ante`, Joshi claimed that with completion of Captain Amarinder's one month in office, a new era of Congress’ ‘Goondagardi’ Oppression &  Misgovernance had dawned in Punjab.Listing out the incidents, Joshi said, “Suicide by fifteen farmers, desecration of Guru Granth Sahib at six places, forcible occupation of Truck Unions at seven places, gang wars inside Kapurthala Jail and outside SSP Batala's residence, unabated illegal mining all over Punjab, jailbreak attempt in Gurdaspur, U-turns by ministers, pan Punjab protest by parents against private schools, auctioning of farmers land and physical assault on Akali-BJP workers- all these incidents have marred the first month of Captain Amarinder chief ministership”.

Congress Goondaraj:-

On Saturday a journalist Shivraj Singh Raju was brutally beaten up by supporters of Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja ‘Warring’, and a day before yesterday, Congress MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki openly threatened a DSP to ask the SHOs to listen to Congress workers or else he will ‘teach them a lesson’, added Joshi.Joshi further said, “Signs of lawlessness had started showing as early as on the 13th March, the day Captain Amarinder was elected as Leader of Congress Legislative Party, when 79-year-old Gurbachan Singh Khalsa, Akali leader, was shot dead by Congress leader Col Surjit Singh (retd) in Pherochichi village of Gurdaspur. Within 24 hours of Captain Amarinder’s oath-taking as Chief Minister Punjab, Congress leader Gurtej Singh was forcibly installed as President of Nagar Panchayat in Capt. Amarinder Singh’s ancestral village of Mehraj in Bathinda by removing the name plate of democratically elected president Harinder Singh”.

VIP Culture:-

Taking a dig at interference of family members of certain ministers and MLAs, Joshi said, “The Much hyped claim to end VIP culture has been tossed away by “MLA patni”, Amrita Singh by attending government functions on behalf of her husband and Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja ‘Warring’. Finance Minister Manpreet Badal's  Brother-in-law Jaijeet Johal reviewed the Congress’ preparations for the upcoming Baisakhi celebrations as Manpreet had to rush to New Delhi for an event. Education Minister Aruna Choudhary's husband Ashok Choudhary not only chairs the meetings of the department but also pursues files. Local Bodies Minster openly advocates presence of his wife in the official meetings. Former Congress MLA Ashwani Sekhri has forcibly retained the official vehicle allotted to him as an MLA”.

Govt of U-Turns:-

Stating that Capt. Amarinder’s government was that of U-Turns, the state BJP secretary said, “On 3rd of April, Punjab Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit Singh had talked about increasing power tariff and two days later he ruled it out. Finance Minister Manpreet Badal had said that the government of Punjab will not beg for CCL every time and in the evening CM issued a press release subtly contradicting its own finance minster stating that everything was fine. Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot admonished a school principal for putting his name at number three on the plaque and CM issued a statement saying no to foundation stones or inaugural plaques”.Adding to the tirade, BJP leaders said, “Congress Manfesto talks of payment to farmers in twenty four hours but Lal Singh, Chairman of Punjab Mandi Board, says that it will take seventy two hours. On one side they talk about abolishing ‘Halqa’ System and on the other hand PPCC general secretary asks for list of officers”.

Framers Cheated:-

“Farmers are the most hit by Captain Amarinder's non fulfillment of promise- ‘Karja Kurki Khatam Fasal ki puri Rakam’.  Fifteen farmers have committed suicide in various villages of Bathinda, Ferozepur, Mansa, Moga, Abohar, Faridkot, Sangrur and Ropar districts. Had the farmers’ Union not intervened, land of a farmer in Sangrur would have been auctioned despite CM's order of not auctioning farmers’ land. In the last week of March Satnam Singh a farmer of District Faridkot was beaten up by bank officials for not re-paying the loan”, the leaders said. “Rain, Hail hit farmers of Barnala, Rupnagar, Patiala, Abohar, Mukatsar, Moga, Mansa, Nawanshahar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur are still waiting for rupees twenty thousand per acre compensation as promised in the manifesto by the Congress. In a nutshell every section of society is feeling cheated”, added Joshi.
