The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Saturday said despite the expansionist and anti-Kashmir agenda of the government of India, the freedom movement will continue till it is taken to logical conclusion. In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said the tyranny and oppression cannot keep us away from pursuing the goal of freedom. He said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got people’s mandate and he should fulfil the promises of his predecessors and resolve the longstanding dispute of Kashmir so that the people of this region live in peace.“If Indian PM is really concerned of his people and their well-being, he should find a justifiable solution to the Kashmir dispute by expressing willingness to hold dialogue with all the stakeholders,” he said, adding, “Tunnels and roads cannot lure us”.Terming the UN resolutions or tripartite dialogue vital for the resolution of Kashmir issue, Shah said such move won’t make anyone winner or lose but is the best way to resolve the dispute. The DFP chairman said Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition and the European countries particularly the UK should play the role of mediator as they are responsible for the partition of the subcontinent.

Shah said referendum has been held in various parts of the world but the world community’s unsympathetic attitude towards Kashmir makes it clear that it is not concerned of the plight of people of regions having Muslim majority. He reminded New Delhi of the promise of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru which he made with the people of Kashmir at Lal Chowk, Srinagar.Shah asked the UN secretary general why he is incognizant towards the situation in Kashmir which is under forcible occupation since last 70 years. “The small, weak and subjugated nations of the world are losing faith in the UN due to such cold approach of the world body,” he said.Terming Pakistan as well-wisher, Shah expressed hope that the country continues its political, diplomatic and moral support to our cause.Reiterating his election boycott appeal, Shah said we have to teach a befitting lesson to New Delhi and its collaborators. “People should understand that those begging for votes are the same who killed our children in 2008, 2010 and 2016 and are mulling to bring more forces and weapons from New Delhi. The world is keenly watching us and this is a testing time for us,” he said.Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah expressed deep grief and sorrow over the bomb blast in Parachinar, Pakistan saying some countries are hell bent on destabilizing Pakistan. He expressed condolence and solidarity with the families of those martyred and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
