Govt committed to restore pristine glory of Brari Nambal : Khurshid Alam

Member Legislative Council, Khurshid Alam today conducted an extensive tour of Brari Nambal and its adjoining areas to oversee the progress of ongoing developmental and beautification works of the lagoon. Officers from LAWDA, SMC, Revenue, Police and other concerned Departments accompanied the legislator.It informed that the conservation and beautification of Brari Nambal Lagoon has been approved in State Annual Action Plan for Srinagar city under AMRUT at an estimated cost of Rs 16.91 crore. The officers informed that the shoreline of the lagoon is protected by dry stone pitching and a walk way is proposed in the action plan. The mechanical and manual dredging is proposed to achieve the required depth at the convenient spots wherever necessary.Listing measures to revive the glory of Brari Nambal, the concerned revealed that as many as 15 aerators shall be installed to improve the quality of water and to affect the required circulation of water and to add to aesthetic value of the lagoon. 

Besides, provision for solid waste management has also been kept in the action plan so that it is removed from the water body and its channels.Mr. Khursheed directed the LAWDA engineers to speed up the pace of work to ensure timely completion of developmental and beautification works of the project. He directed the officials to work overtime to achieve the targets in a time-bound manner. He also stressed the concerned to clean the embankments of the lagoon on daily basis.The MLC also visited the adjoining localities to take stock of the developmental activities. He directed the SMC officials to repair the defunct street lights and footpaths of the area on priority basis for the convenience of the locals.  He also interacted with local deputations at various places who apprised him about various issues being confronted by them. He listened to their grievances patiently and assured to address these on priority.
