Minister of State for Health, Social Welfare and Housing and Urban Development Department Asiea Naqash today informed the Legislative Council that a wall has been constructed on the left bank of Nallah at Dogra Samparak Park, near Ved Mandir at Karan Nagar Jammu by Sewerage and Drainage Division (West) of UEED, for prevention of road accidents as Nallah flows at that point under the National Highway. The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Ramesh Arora in the Upper House today. She said Rs 2.29 lakh was incurred on the construction of wall on the nallah under the Drainage Scheme Dounthaly, Karan Nagar, Panjthirthi. However, at that time, there was no demand for covering of Nallah.  She said the Sewerage and Drainage Division (West) of UEED usually takes up covering of Nallah at spots where there are road crossings or in densely populated areas where there is urgent requirement for house approaches. The Minister said that Nallah covering was not approved work in the Annual Action Plan of the works programme, “hence the question of abandoning of work does not arise.”The Minister said on the persistent demand of the public, an estimate has been framed for the work viz laying of slab over Nallah adjoining amounting to Rs 50 lakh and shall be considered in the next year's Capex Budget subject to availability of additional funds.
