Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Choudhary Lal Singh today visited Jambu Zoo, Khanpur.The Minister trekked over 10 KM distance along with the officials. He was accompanied by all the HoDs and other senior officials including CCFs, DFOs and JEs.The Minister went on foot all along from his official residence in Gandhi Nagar upto Jambu Zoo, Khanpur.  On the way, the Minister also interacted with the local populace and listened to their grievances.“We should adopt a proactive approach to work for the people,” Mr Singh told officials during the visit. He said that he wants to get first-hand information regarding issues pertaining to the Forest and its allied wings. “This walk is a small beginning towards understanding my department,” he said.The Minister took stock of the work at the location and directed officials to complete the developmental works on time.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government is committed to provide better facilities in all the areas of life to its people. 

He further said that the Government has focused its attention on developing locations having tourist potential to increase footfall which can generate employment and further enhance the socio-economic condition of the locals.The Minister met several groups, civil society members and deputations and was apprised of various demands. The Minister listened to the grievances of the people and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned officers for early redress of the same.The Minister said it is the endeavor of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority, adding that a well-conceived programme has been devised to address all issues in a phased manner. He said provision for better healthcare, education, PHE and road connectivity are the priority sectors of the Government, adding that the Government is paying focused attention to upgrade the same. He sought people's cooperation in implementing all Government schemes so that benefits of such schemes reach to the needy. He asked them to maintain close liaison with the administration and project their demands in most legitimate way.Later the Minister took the review meeting of the Forest Department and its allied wings at the Manda Guest House.
