All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed concern over the interference of some of the fanatic religious groups in the religious affairs of the minorities especially the Sikh community. In a press release, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that these fanatic religious groups belonging to the majority community in the country are un-necessarily poking their nose in the religious affairs of Sikh community. He said that such acts are detrimental to the interests of people living in India.“Across the globe India is known for its religious tolerance and compassion. Leaders cutting party lines have been hailing the rich secular ethos of this country. Tolerance for all the religions has over the years been considered a significant feature of Indian society. However, of late some of the fanatic religious groups are hell-bent on causing damage to the secular fabric of the country,” said Raina. The APSCC Chairman said that these fanatic religious groups nowadays are busy in distorting the history of Sikhism.

He said that these people are asking Sikhs to toe their line thus leading to confusion and disillusionment among the members of Sikh community. He demanded a high level probe into the publishing of unwanted literature by some unrecognized publishing houses in Punjab. “It is important that these fanatic religious groups having the backing of some politico-religious parties of India are asked to stop their malicious campaign. These groups have not only been targeting the Sikhs but also other religious minorities like Muslims, Christians and Buddhists. If they continue to be patronized politically then the day is not far off when India would lose its peculiar secular character,” said Raina. The APSCC Chairman said that members of Sikh community would not sit back and carry out agitation in case the religious fanatic groups do not stop in spreading venom against the religious minorities. He said that it is due to the handiwork of such people that Akal Takht higher ups are asked not to participate in the Khalsa celebrations at Patna Saheb. (CNS)
