Div Com reviews stock, supply position of essentials in Kashmir

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review stock and supply position of essential commodities in Valley.Director FCS&CA Tassaduq Jeelani, Area Manager Kashmir Division Food Corporation of India (FCI), and others officials of FCS&CA Department attended the meeting.During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that the department provides ration to 68.10 lakh souls in Kashmir Division under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), which includes 1,55,500 Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) RTs, 8,58,361 AAY souls, 33,48,196 Priority Households (PHH) and 26,03,558 Non-Priority Households (NPHH).The Div Com directed Deputy Commissioners of valley districts to undertake re-verifications in order to establish the correctness of the said categorization.The meeting was further informed that among PHHs 5 kilograms of Rice per head is provided by the Department, which is regardless of strength of the family, whereas those families with strengths of up to 6 members are provided an additional 5 kilograms from the Mufti Mohammad Syed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES).It was informed that a total of 10,88,569 families are being provided additional quota from the MMSFES, including 44,311 one-member families, 1,21,996 two-member families, 1,71,603 three-member families, 2,70,128 four-member families, 2,88,176 five-member families, 1,92,355 six-member families.

Regarding the stock position, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that as on December 30, 2016 the FCI has stock of 72,436 MTs of Rice and 4,390 MTs of Wheat, while as the stock position with the FCS&CA Department in the Division includes 1,260 MTs of Rice, 148 MTs of Wheat, 2,151 MTs of Sugar, and 1,989 MTs of Atta.About allocation and lifting of food grains for December month, it was informed that against the total allocation of 3,88,871 quintals of Rice and Atta, under NFSA and MMSFES, about 3,72,867 quintals have been distributed.The meeting was also informed that the total allotment of 1,81,330 quintals, including 1,37,920 quintals under NFSA and 43,409 quintals under MMSFES for three months have already been dumped at respective stations in the snowbound areas of Kashmir. 

The same is true for border areas of the valley, where all of the total allotments, including 70,136 quintals of Rice, 14,494 quintals of Atta and 5,303 quintals of Sugar, in the border area of Kupwara district, and 24,485 quintals of Rice, 6,005 quintals of Atta and 2,097 quintals of Sugar, in the border areas of Bandipora district, already stand lifted.The meeting was further informed that under the revised monthly allotment under NFSA, applicable from January 2017, the Central Government shall provide a total of 1,122.569 MTs of Wheat and 34,431.45 MTs of Rice.With regard to the stock position of LPG, the meeting was informed that stock for 12 days of LPG cylinders is available with the Department, while Petrol for 25 days, Diesel for 29 days and Kerosene Oil for 20 days is available.The meeting was also informed that under the Essential Commodity and the Hoarding and Profiteering Acts, the Department has taken action against 1,476 violators this year.On the occasion, the Div Com stressed officers to work in coordination to further streamline the departmental functioning, so that efficient and effective public delivery system is ensured.
