Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Majitha and Head State Legal Cell Himmat Singh Shergill today said that AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s statement has been deliberately distorted to mislead the people of Punjab.Shergill said Kejriwal had made it crystal clear time and again that Punjab did not have even a single drop of water to spare for any other state. However certain section of the media distorted his statement for the reasons best known to them.Shergill said he would like to remind everyone that on December 11, 2016 while interacting with the media at Jagraon the Delhi chief minister very clearly stated that Punjab not only has full right over its waters but will also not be able to spare any for other states. Shergill said AAP is not in favour of allowing Punjab waters to go outside the state. “ Kejriwal also categorically had said that waters of Punjab are its own property and in no case will he allow injustice to be done with the state on the issue.

Shergill said the whole Punjab knows Shiromani Akali Dal headed by Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal and Punjab Congress led by Captain Amarinder Singh have been directly responsible for first conceiving, inaugurating and then building the SYL. “ Now both these parties have joined together to malign AAP on the issue of SYL whereas AAP was not even born when the entire controversy over it began. Everyone knows that it was Badals who had acquired the land for the SYL and thereafter capt Aamrinder Singh inaugurated it along with late prime minister Indira Gandhi”, added Shergill. While replying to a query regarding the candidature from Majithia, Shergill said that he entered into politics with an urge to clean the corruption prevailing in administrative and political system and to contribute in rescuing the youth of Punjab from the drug menace and that now party has fielded him against the main conspirator of drug trade, he will ensure that the Punjab gets rid from the wicked Bikram Singh Majithia who has ruined the youth with the drugs. Shergill said that the impressive turn out by the people to the "Majha Fateh" rally was a clear indication that the people of Majha have made up their mind to fight this decisive battle with courage and throw these Badals and Majitha out from the political map of Punjab.
