After 133 days, Kashmir opens on joint resistance leadership’s call

After 133 days, people in Kashmir resumed their normal activities since early morning on the call of joint resistance leadership as part of relaxation in shutdown during which all the markets remained abuzz with people while there were no restrictions in any part of the Valley.The joint resistance leadership, which is spearheading the current mass uprising that began after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani on July 8, had announced full-day relaxation in shutdown on November 19 and 20. As per the call, people resumed their routine activities this morning all across the Kashmir.According to GNS correspondent, all small and big commercial establishments, shops, petrol pumps and also educational institutes were open in Srinagar and in other districts of the Valley. The authorities had also removed deployments of forces from all the areas of Valley including in Srinagar’s downtown. People in huge numbers thronged the markets and there were intermittent traffic jams on all major city roads throughout the day.The passenger vehicles made inroads in all the areas of Valley. All the schools and colleges in Srinagar and elsewhere were open since morning and at many places the students in their uniforms were seen rushing towards their respective schools. The day here passed off peacefully and there was no untoward incident in any area. Police also described the situation peaceful.The full-day relaxation in shutdown is also scheduled for tomorrow as well. However, there is no such relaxation in strike on next Monday and Tuesday while relaxation from 4pm has been announced for Wednesday and Thursday.(GNS)
