Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, today inaugurated 10-day Theater Workshop for amateur artists of Kargil. The workshop is being organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.Nearly, 12 young participants are attending the workshop which will be conducted by Kacho Ahmad Khan, first Graduate from National School of Drama from Kargil.Appreciating the efforts of J&KAACL Kargil chapter, Haji Anayat Ali stressed the need for optimally utilizing the theatre medium like Nukkad Nataks to raise awareness about the schemes of the government envisaged at improving the living standards of the people. The talent of amateur artists can also be used in highlighting the impact of certain social evils prevalent in the society besides suggesting preventive measures to weed out such inhumane practices, he added. He asked the Academy to further intensify the campaign aimed at preserving and protecting the folk lore, songs and other tangible assets of the people and tradition of Kargil.
He congratulated Rantagh Theater Group and Kacho Ahmad Khan for staging the first ever Purgi Play at Natiya Samagam. He termed theater as an effective medium to save the dying culture of Purig and exhorted upon the youth to contribute their part in this regard. He assured all possible help to the Academy and other related organizations for promoting such activities in the state.Earlier, Deputy Secretary Culture, Nazir Hussain, gave a brief introduction of activities of Cultural Academy being done to preserve the culture and tradition of the region.Deputy Director General (E), All India Radio, Mukesh Kumar, Lt Col Akshay Dass, Mohammad Hussain Rehnuma DYSSO, Aga Syed Toha AD Tourism, Coordinator NYK Aga Syed Sajjad and other prominent persons from Kargil were present on the occasion.
