DDC Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz today reviewed the progress on shifting of public utilities from Nashri to Jawaharlal tunnel to facilitate smooth widening work on the National Highway here at a meeting of concerned departments and representatives of construction agencies. The meeting also discussed various issues and suggested measures to remove bottlenecks for smooth execution of the work.ADC Babu Ram, XENs of PHE, PDD and representatives of the companies Navayuga, Ramky, IL&FS, HCC, GAMMON India, NHAI besides other district officers attended the meeting.
DDC directed revenue officers to complete the remaining formalities for the land acquisition. He also reviewed the progress of shifting utilities of PDD, PHE and forest departments including their reinstallation. The DDC directed construction companies to provide adequate funds to the concern departments for execution of utility- shifting work without affecting the life of general public who rely on these utilities profusely. The DDC also pulled up executing companies over non compliance of certain terms and conditions and warned them that inconvenience to public due to in adequate safety and traffic jams will not be tolerated. He directed them erect crash barriers, put up safety signs, markings and flags at construction sites to avoid mishaps. He further took the stock of issues related to the forest department and asked the company representatives for strict adherence of terms and conditions laid down in the contract agreement with regard to scientific and safe dumping of the extracted muck at unidentified locations.
