Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Housing & Urban Development, and Social Welfare, Ms. Asiea Naqash today, convened meeting to review schemes being implemented under National Health Mission (NHM).During the meeting, it was informed that Jammu & Kashmir State has been appreciated by Government of India for performing well in the last financial year (2015-2016) in timely utilization of funds, thereby earning incentive of 4 per cent over and above the stipulated resources envelope.Stressing on the need to further bring down the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), the Minister was informed by Mission Director (NHM), J & K, Dr. Mohan Singh  that indicators of maternal and child health  are improving in the State. While giving the details, he said IMR has reduced from 51 in the year 2007 to 34 in the 2013, which is better than the National Average.Regarding the status of Funds Available/Expenditures statement of State Health Society, J&K for the financial year 2015-2016, the Central Government has released 361.49 crore. The Minister was informed that 5378.20 lakh were released to Director Health Services for the financial year 2015-2016, of which Director, Health Services, Kashmir received 2884.57 lakh. Similarly, an amount of 2493.63 lakh were released to Director, Health Services Jammu. It was also informed that an amount of Rs 180 crore was approved for the salary of contractual staff engaged at various levels under National Health Mission during the financial year 2015-2016.

Giving a detailed presentation, the meeting was informed that additional staff at various levels has been engaged under NHM for providing support to the existing health system.  As many as 6905 doctors and paramedics have been engaged under NHM. In addition to it, out of 941 permissible posts, 713 persons have been engaged in management units for providing technical support.It was also informed that budget to the tune of Rs. 1670.20 lakh was projected for operationalization of 102 ambulance services in the State Programme Implementation Plan (SPIP) 2016-17 submitted to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).Giving the details of Janani Surakasha Yojana (JSY), under this scheme around 8.78 lakh women has been provided incentives under its launch in the State. While under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakarm (JSSK) 7.38 lakh pregnant women and 1.65 lakh sick neonates and infants  get benefitted in the State since its launch.In order to mange Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) Children, Nutritional Rehabilitation Centres were approved for district Anantnag, Baramulla, Pulwama, Kargil at cost of Rs 9.8 lakh. Also, Infant and young feeding centres approved for all the district hospitals for which an amount of Rs 12,500 per unit was provided for this purpose.
