New Delhi(IANS) , 07 Feb 2014

The Congress Friday attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after one of its leaders accused Delhi Lt. governor Najeeb Jung of working as a Congress agent.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said the AAP leaders and ministers have no right to defame people who hold constitutional posts."By questioning those holding constitutional posts, the AAP is showing its mentality. Today you have criticised the Lt. governor, tomorrow you'll attack the president. This has never happened before," Lovely said, after a meeting between Jung and a delegation of Congress leaders here."Those who were aam aadmis (common people) till yesterday are today questioning people holding constitutional posts. You may have become ministers and chief minister, but you will always remain under the constitution," he said.

"Everybody has to abide by the constitution. And those who don't, we all know what they are called... I would pray to god to instil sense in these people."AAP leader Ashutosh's comment against the lt. governor came after media reports appeared that Jung sought the solicitor general's opinion on the Lokpal bill that the Delhi cabinet has cleared and was told the bill is required to go to the lt. governor's office and needs the union government's clearance before it can be enacted. The Delhi cabinet Monday cleared the draft of the anti-graft Delhi Lokpal Bill, 2014, and said the bill would be passed in a special assembly session to be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here Feb 16.Lovely reiterated the Congress's stand of opposing the Lokpal bill when tabled in the house as it was "unconstitutional"."We support a strong Lokpal bill but will not support this unconstitutional bill. This government has not followed all the legal formalities. This government needs to work as per the constitution," said Lovely.
