The election campaign of Akali Candidate from Mohali Balwant Singh Ramoowalia received a huge setback when the Market Association Phase 5 condemned his claim that the Association were supporting him. At a huge function organized in Phase 5 in the honour of Balbir Singh Sidhu, Congress Candidate from Mohali, Chaudhary Kulwant Singh, President Market Association Phase 5 and also President Beopar Madal Mohali said that the parachute candidate Ramoowalia sensing is inevitable defeat was resorting to such gimmicks as claiming false support of the people. In a joint press note issued by President Chaudhary Kulwant Singh , General Secretary Satinderpal Singh Dhanoa, Rashpal Chauhan, Harjit Singh, Amarjit Singh Nagpal they said that Ramoowalia’s claim of support was baseless and false. The entire Association was supporting Sidhu as they felt that it was Mr. Sidhu only who can understand and resolve issues plaguing the city and the traders. Speaking on the occasion Sidhu said that once the Congress Government is formed he shall personally see it that problems of trader community are solved to mutual satisfaction of all. He thanked the Association for their support and calling off the bluff of Ramoowalia.
In another major impetus to the election campaign Parminder Singh Toor, President Bar Association Mohali announced along with all his supporters to join Congress Party and work overtime to ensure Sidhu’s win from Mohali. Speaking at a meeting organized in Phase 4 he said that for last 5 years he has approaching the Akali Government for redressal of grievances of the advocates in the District but it was unfortunate that the focus of Government was just towards furthering the interests of Badal Private Limited Company. He said that he will work among all advocates of the city and assured Mr. Sidhu of their support. Welcoming Mr. Toor along with all his supporters Sidhu said that he is committed to amicable resolution of all pending issues.
On his election trail Sidhu addressed many meetings in villages and various sectors of the Association. I.D.Singh, Gen secy of district congress stated that its not only the family members of S.Balbir Sidhu , those are canvassing. The entire members of District congress committee Mohali along with their family members are enthusiastic in supporting their beloved leader,BALBIR SINGH SIDHU .
