All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee Kashmir has said that only two Sikh youths, who were SPOs, have been selected as police constables, whose result was declared recently.“It is matter of concern for minorities especially for Sikh’s of J&K, that in recent 4000 police appointments only two persons have been selected, who were already SPO’s but no new people of the minority from any district have been given a chance,” APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Raina said in a statement to KNS.
Raina said that he will take up matter with high-ups including the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.“In past minorities were given utmost priority in state and Central government jobs for their development but after migration in 1990, state and Central government stopped development of minority as they only consider migrants to be the minority of state & till date Sikhs are ignored as minority of J&K state,” Raina said.
“Many had qualified the required rounds of eligibility but were not selected in the final merit list, which also included candidates from RBA category. Such apathy of state and central government are putting the Sikh community at dejected position in state.”Delegation of Sikh youth met APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina and apprised him of alienated & step-motherly treatment given to them. . Manmeet Singh said that this was his last chance, instead of accommodating him he was ignored despite of clearing all tests.“State and central governments are playing delay tactic with Sikhs. He urged the Sikh community of J&K to get united for “our cause, as we are left with no other option rather than to come on road to protest against the both governments. Governments are more interested in lawlessness activities than democratic way.”Raina also said that main reason of ignoring Sikhs of Valley is that they have no political representative in Assembly who can put forward the proble and hiccups faced by them.
