The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken a suo motto notice to the rape and physical atrocities committed to a 20 year old hearing and speech impaired girl belonging to the family of Scheduled castes.Taking serious view of the offense, Mr. Rajesh Bagha Chairman of the commission said that the incident occurred in the Village Nohran of district Patiala where a physically challenged girl became a victim of the grave crime and now four month pregnant. The Commission has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police Patiala to thoroughly examine the case and appear before the Commission with the report within 15 days.Mr. Bagha reiterated the strong resolve of the commission to safeguard the interests of the scheduled castes and assured to take strict action against the culprits.
