Chairman, J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the progress under Central flagship Programme of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education Ms. Asiea Naqash was also present in the meeting.The Chairman said that the implementation of AMRUT is linked with urban reforms such as e-governance, setting up of professional municipal cadre, assessment and collection of municipal taxes, credit rating of urban local bodies and citizen-centric urban planning.Haji Anayat Ali said that AMRUT will focus on ensuring basic infrastructure services such as water supply, sewerage, storm water drains, transport and development of green spaces and parks with special provision for meeting the needs of children.Haji Anayat Ali said that AMRUT has been initiated to transform the urban infrastructure to tackle the needs of over-growing population, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transportation, affordable housing for poor and robust IT connectivity.Ms Naqash said that it is a moment of great privilege that a town from Ladakh division has been included in Centrally Sponsored Scheme AMRUT owing to the intervention by Chief Minister. She said that government is keen to develop all the regions of the state.Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development, DC Kargil, Director, Urban Local Bodies, besides other officials and consultants of the department attended the meeting.
