The Local Bodies Department has issued strict directives against dumping of construction and raw materials along the road sides, streets creating nuisance in general and fixes three amounts of different fine to be imposed on repeated violations. Giving details in this regard an official spokesman said that directions in this regard had been issued to all Mayors of Municipal Corporations, Commissioners, Regional Deputy Directors, all EOs Nagar Councils/Nagar Panchayats to implement the instructions in true spirit. The spokesman it was observed that construction material including sand, gravel etc had been dumped on the road sides, streets for long time near the construction sites creating troubles for general public and daily commuters.The Spokesman informed that action would be taken in such cases by the authority concerned under section 394-B of Punjab Municipal Act 1976 and under section 229 of Punjab Municipal Act 1911. He said that three types of penalty would be imposed against violators of these norms. He said that on the first violation the dumper would have to pay a fine of Rs. 1000, Rs. 2000 for second violation and Rs. 5000 for third time along with a strict condition to free that place within 24 hours.
