Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today criticised the registration of criminal case against the parents of the students of various private schools who were protesting against the arbitrary fee hike.Demanding immediate cancellation of the cases, Capt Amarinder said, this was an act of extreme and insensitive overreaction by the district administration officials, who instead of appreciating and understanding the genuine concerns of the parents booked them in a false case of non-bailable offences.Maintaining that peaceful protest was the democratic right of everyone, the former Chief Minister reminded the officials that they were there to serve people and not  to slap false FIRs on them. "Don't behave like your political masters, the Akalis, who resort to such practice of slapping false cases on their political opponents", he warned the officials."I better warn you to cancel the cases against the protesting parents or you will be held accountable for overstepping your powers", he warned, reminding the officials that they have been given the powers and authority for serving the people and not abusing these to satisfy their personal egos.
