The Election Commission on Wednesday termed as "unsubstantial" the complaints against a Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member and West Bengal assembly polls candidate of trying to influence the final phase using police."As per the report submitted by the district magistrate, the complaint was found to be unsubstantial," additional chief electoral officer Dibyendu Sarkar said.In a memorandum to the EC, the Communist Party of India-Marxist alleged that Trinamool Lok Sabha member Suvendu Adhikari held a secret meeting in the intervening night of May 1-2 with officers-in-charge (OCs) of five police stations in East Midnapore district with a motive to disrupt the polling process on May 5.CPI-M state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said the secret meeting was held at 1 a.m. on May 2 at the Panskura Banamali College.The Trinamool has denied the allegations.Adhikari is contesting from the Nandigram assembly constituency in East Midnapore.Sarkar also said the ban on exit polls will continue till May 16.A total of 25 constituencies in Cooch Behar and East Midnapore districts will go to the polls on May 5 in the last phase.
