Educational institutes in Jammu and Kashmir are bracing up for diverse activities to bring out the hidden talent of students and emerge as centers of cultural promotion and integration.Educational institutes should take up activities    for nurturing talent of the students in sports, singing, acting and exposing them to our rich culture, said Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar while addressing College heads and students at a Gazal Singing programme organized by Government College for Woman parade here today.Seven students drawn from city colleges including GCW Parade, GGM Science College , SPMR College of Commerce, College of Fine Arts, Government College for Education and MAM College performed at the event and enthralled the audience through their melodious voice.“We ought to redefine the activities that will help us to tap diverse potential of students which remain untouched and if honed well  can provide opportunities  to students  to explore avenues and excel in sports, Television and many other unconventional filed”.

 He pitched for holding drama, singing and sports competitions to provide the students platform to groom and hone their talent.While appreciating the students  who performed in the programme the Minister said “We have  vast opportunities  in the  Television Industry  and our youth have all the potential to carve  their niche in this virtual world which knows no boundaries provided they are properly groomed and guided well” he asserted.He called upon the teachers not to confine their activities to classrooms but help and motivate their students to understand their capabilities and   fulfill their dreams.Naeem also called for exposing the young generation to the culture and heritage adding that this would help in preserving our rich ethos. Connecting to our culture and feeling pride in our legacy will save us from the crisis the society is facing today” he added.
