Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon on Monday directed officials to work for making agriculture and its allied sectors as priority sectors to boost the state’s economy.The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir was chairing a meeting of the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture in order to review the stock position of fertilizers and pesticides across Kashmir. The Divisional Commissioner said farmers and growers should not face any difficulty on part of supply of fertilizers and pesticides. He directed the concerned to ensure the availability of all the necessary stock for the agriculture and horticulture sectors.He also gave instructions to check profiteering in agriculture and horticulture sectors across the State.He said the government will take all possible measures to ensure hassle-free services to farmers and fruit growers.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Director Agriculture, Showkat Ahmad Beigh, Director Horticulture, P K Sharma, officials of SKUAST-K, and dealers.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division via video conference and Divisional Commissioner was apprised regarding the supply and stock of the pesticides and fertilizers available at the district headquarters.The Divisional Commissioner urged the officials to keep check on the rates, quality control and availability of the Agriculture and Horticulture products.The officials informed the meeting that the requirement of insecticides and pesticides for the year 2016 is being monitored and reviewed regularly.The meeting was informed that ‘Tree Spray Oil’ has been distributed to all the district headquarters. The officials gave a detailed summary of the distribution channels by various authorized Oil companies, including Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum, and Indian Oil among others.The Divisional Commissioner told officials to notify the standardized rate for the tree spray oil, distributed by the various dealers across Kashmir valley. He told officials to review the preparedness of the stock and other fertilizers available at their respective district headquarters and urged officials to plug in the loopholes in the service sector.

The Divisional Commissioner was informed about the status of distribution of Tree Spray Oil in Kashmir division as on March 12, 2016. They gave requirement targets and availability as per the approved company status.The meeting was informed that 2950000 MTS Spray/Winter spray oil was available with the Bharat Petroleum Corporation. Ltd, while as 200000    MTS is in transit. About 600000 MTS with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, and 4200000 MTS with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The officials said that there were no specific targets fixed for these manufacturing companies; however these companies agreed to supply TSO to valley.Dr Samoon called for creating awareness about various schemes and latest techniques in agriculture and horticulture sectors. 

He also urged the scientists of SKUAST-K to ensure that they reach out to the farmers and growers in time.He directed the officials to conduct regular tours and field inspections in order to get first hand feedback about the schemes being implemented besides their status. Later, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir met several deputations from different parts Kashmir valley. While interacting with them, he assured them that their grievances would be addressed in time-bound manner by taking up them with the concerned departments. He gave patient hearing to the general public and directed them to different officials for their grievance redressal.He said it is the endeavor of the Government to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience with regard to the availability of essential services and other related.
