A team of inspectorate staff from Drugs and Food Control Organization (DFCO) conducted surprise checks of drugs sale establishments situated in and around Sub-District Hospital, Bishnah and Jammu. During the drive 8 samples of various categories of Drugs were lifted as per legal provisions to establish quality. 5 dispensing chemists were served Show Cause Notices for committing certain breaches of the provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics, Act. It was observed that the establishments were lacking in proper storage & sanitary conditions & also had not maintained sale records of scheduled drugs as per mandate of law.

The team also conducted an interactive session with trade fraternity and sensitized them about the development and spread of Anti-microbial resistance due to over use, misuse of anti-microbial by health practitioners and other stakeholders.It was impressed upon the dealers to maintain utmost restraint while dealing with drugs containing habit forming ingredients. It was clarified that defaulters if any shall invite strict action against their firms.
