Chief Electoral Officer, Shantmanu today chaired an officers meeting to review the preparations for Municipal elections and to sort out issues, if any, pertaining to the democratic exercise.The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam districts, Director Rural Development, Director Urban Local Bodies, other concerned officers.The Chief Electoral Officer stressed on expediting the work of addition, deletion, updation and sorting out of any discrepancies in electoral rolls, which have come up after the revision of electoral rolls, before the end of this month so that the summary revision can be done.

He also directed the concerned officers for mapping and physical verification of polling stations to avoid overlapping of rolls and to check requirements in the polling stations for smooth conduct of the polls.Besides issues of reservation of wards in the Municipal Committees in District Anantnag, Kulgam and Srinagar and Bifurcation of rolls for the Municipal Elections were threadbare discussed in the meeting.The Chief Electoral Officer asked the officers to do their homework properly and ensure that no eligible voter is left out from the electoral roll.
