1-Day Kisan Mela cum Agricultural Exhibition organised by Agriculture Department Ramban was today inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture, Gulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, in the premises of Agriculture complex Maitra.Vice Chairman Kissan Advisory Board, Daljeet Singh Chib, MLA, Ramban Neelam Kumar Langeh, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Director Agriculture Jammu Mr. Jamwal, Director Command Area, Mr. Kumar, officers of different departments, PRIs and general public were also presented on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the pro farmer initiatives taken by the Government in agriculture and allied sectors. He also highlighted the benefits of recently launched social security schemes for empowerment of women and downtrodden section of the society including, AASRA and Ladli Beti.
He also spoke about the benefits of National Food Security Act, slated to be implemented in the state from 1st February 2016.The Minister also urged people to take benefit from the 1-day kisan mela.The mela was organised for attracting farmers and unemployed youth of the district towards activities which have income generating potential.Various departments had established their stalls and displayed their products. The representatives of the Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Horticulture, Agriculture, Sericulture, Handicrafts, Handlooms and Social Welfare departments interacted with the youth and informed them about the government schemes and their benefits.
