PDP General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir has asked the party cadres to gear up for Panchayat and Urban Local elections.Addressing a meeting of party delegates in Khanabal along with Senior leader and minister Abdul Haq Khan and Political advisor to PDP President Peerzada Mansoor, Mir said that the PDP led government is committed to strengthen governance and make it effective at grass root level.“Our ministers and representatives are working on ground with people unlike the representatives of previous coalition and this has led National Conference to launch a vicious campaign and poison the hearts and minds of the people for petty political gains,” Mir said.He said that PDP intends to give democratic space to people but the few political parties are creating fissures in working of the government.

Urging party workers to establish foundation of a progressive society he said that local bodies elections should be seen with a vision of transforming governance as the Chief Minister is desirous of empowering them statutorily and financially for public welfare.Speaking on the occasion, Senior Leader and Minister Abdul Haq Khan said, "previous NC - Congress coalition had disempowered the structure of governance at local level by ill conceived legislations and their sluggish approach ,they vitiated the democratic process by delaying the local body elections for a long time and this speaks volumes of their credibility and vision."Mansoor urged the party workers to identify the local problems of the people and draft a manifesto at village levels.
