Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLC G N Monga today expressed serious concern over state government’s inept approach in dealing with problems faced by thousands of school teachers in the state.Addressing party workers in Ganderbal he said teachers working under centrally sponsored schemes SSA and RMSA are being denied wages for no fault of theirs from months together. “It has created huge financial problems for these poor teachers, some of whom have been forced to sell their belongings to feed their families.”“It is a shame for the government which hasn’t been able to solve the problems for the last several months. These teachers are on the verge of starvation and government is least bothered,” the Congress MLC said.Cautioning the government that resentment was brewing up among teachers, Monga said, “It is deplorable that teaching community has been put to sufferings and government is least bothered about their plight. How can they work with dedication as they aren’t being paid wages?”

He stressed for special budgetary provision to tackle this problem once for all.

Monga also expressed serious concern and anger over the deteriorating power situation in the Valley.“With the onset of autumn, the Valley is once again reeling under severe power crisis as Power Development Department is resorting to unscheduled curtailments giving tough time to people especially students who are preparing for exams. In every nook and corner of the Valley, people every day are seen protesting against unscheduled curtailments, but it seems government is least bothered,” the JKPCC vice president said.“Instead of providing hassle free power to consumers, the PDD is sending inflated bills to them worsening the situation further. It is high time government takes note of the problems of the people as harsh winter is approaching fast,” he added.Monga urged the Congress workers to work harder to expose the dual standards of the present coalition government. “This government has proved a failure as people are suffering for the want of basic amenities,” he added.
