Minister of Education, Naeem Akhtar, Thursday carried out surprise inspection of various educational institutions in Ganderbal district.The Education Minister visited Government Girls High School, Pandach, Ganderbal where he announced to build five new classrooms under RMSA scheme in order to cater to the growing number of students in the area.The Minister took strong note of the absence of students from classes at the school and directed the staff to ensure cent percent attendance till the winter vacations are announced.The Minister also directed the staff to hold regular parent-teacher meetings along with members of Village Education Committee.

Akhtar later visited Government Primary School, Wakura, Ganderbal. The district administration informed the Minister that the new building of the school has not been handed over by the contractor to the Education Department due to a financial dispute.Mr Akhtar directed the district administration to resolve the matter with the contractor at the earliest.The Minister also visited Government Middle School, Busser Bagh, Ganderbal and announced Rs 5 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for upgrading the infrastructure and facelift of the school."Improving the standard of education at government schools is one of the top priorities of our government. We will provide best infrastructure to this school and make it a model school in the area," Mr Akhtar said.Impressed by the learning levels of Class 1 students, the Minister also appreciated the role of local ReT teachers.

The Minister later visited Government High School, Nunner, Ganderbal and Government Boys Secondary School, Kachnambal, Kangan.At Kachnambal, the Minister was informed that the building housing the Panchayat Ghar should be transferred to the secondary school in exchange for a building of school which lies on the other side of the road.The Minister assured the locals that he will take up the matter with the Rural Development minister and announced to start vocational courses in IT and Tourism at the school which will be developed on the lines of a 'Model School'.The Minister also visited Girls Higher Secondary School, Nunner. Mr Akhtar said IT and Functional English subjects will be taught and Commerce stream will be started from next session.The Minister also directed the Chief Educational Officer to immediately involve qualified teachers with post-graduate degrees so that Commerce stream can be started at these schools.

During the visit, Akhtar also announced Computer Labs for Boys and Girls Higher Secondary Schools of Ganderbal along with Girls Higher Secondary School, Kangan.Akhtar said vocational courses in IT and Tourism will be started at BHSS Kangan while directing the authorities to merge Government Middle School, Kangan with Boys Higher Secondary School, Kangan.The Minister also visited Government Boys Model Middle School, Duderhama, Ganderbal where he announced to start vocational courses in Fisheries and Geography. The Minister said the school will be merged with Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Ganderbal.The Minister was accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir, Shah Faesal, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz, CEO Ganderbal, Abdul Rouf, SSP Ganderbal, Imtiyaz Ismail Parry and other officers of civil and police administration.
