Recalling Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ‘Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat aur Insaniyat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a package of Rs 80,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir.Addressing a public rally in a fortified SK Stadium here, the Prime Minister pledged to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a new, modern, progressive and prosperous state for which there will be no shortage of money.“I don't need advice or analysis from anyone in this world on Kashmir. The three mantras of Atal jee (former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee) and these will be helpful in moving forward. Kashmiriyat ke bina Hindustan adhura hai. (Without Kashmiriyat, India is incomplete). Sufi tradition has emerged from this land and this tradition has taught us oneness and strength of unity,” said Modi flanked by Chief Minister and his council of ministers along with Mehbobba Mufti, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Jitendra Singh.In his second public rally in Kashmir after becoming the Prime Minister and first under rulin government, Modi announced the 80000 crore package and said that this is not a full stop as "our hearts are also open for you."

But I am an optimist and would like to move ahead and covert Jammu and Kashmir into a modern and developed state,” he saidHe praised the people of the state for “reposing their faith in Jamhooriyat” (democracy) and said that the progress of Jammu and Kashmir had to be based on Insaniyat.
He said his Government worked for "Sabka saath, sabka vikas," and therefore, it was essential for development to reach all parts of the country. He said Jammu and Kashmir should return once again to the days when people from all parts of India saved money to visit the State.Besides tourism, he said, attention was being given to sectors such as Pashmina, and Saffron.The Prime Minister narrated his experience of reconstruction following the Gujarat earthquake of 2001.“Though the State had suffered a lot due to floods last year, he saw the spirit (jazba) among the people, and was convinced that the State would soon overcome the difficulties.The Prime Minister claimed the atmosphere of gloom that pervaded India till recently has lifted over the last 17 months. He said India is now considered the fastest growing major economy in the world.Modi also mentioned that the State from where young cricketer Pervez Rasool hails, should witness international cricket matches again. He said top Indian cricketers use bats made in the State. (GNS)
