Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr Sukhnandan Kumar today said various water supply schemes are under construction in Pulwama constituency.The Minister was replying to a calling attention notice by Mr. Mohammad Khalil Band regarding the situation that has arisen due to the scarcity of drinking water in Nayna Batapora, Gadhanjipora Gulbugh Trich, Dulgam, Palpora and Wahipora due to the non-completion of water supply schemes in the area.The Minister said that Nayna Batpora village falls under the scope of WSS Planpora Nayna which is coming up under NRDWP at an estimated cost of Rs 274.50 lakh against which Rs 181.77 lakh stand utilized upto September 2015. 

The Minister said that the important components of the scheme including construction of 0.40 lakh gallons capacity overhead tank and Pump House-cum-Operators quarter stand completed. However, the construction of 0.08 MGD Rapid Stand Filtration Plant is in progress. The Minister said the scheme is targeted for completion during the year 2016-17. He said the present status of the scheme is 75% completed. At present the water is been supplied to Batpora area through Water Supply Scheme Nayna with tube well as source.

The Minister informed the House that in Gadhanjipora it is a lift scheme with river Jhelum as source approved for Rs 325 lakh under NRDWP. He said all components of the scheme have been completed. He said the wooden barrage (Pump Station) at river got completely damaged during floods of September 2014. He said the new proposed intake sump instead of barrage has been taken up under Permanent Restoration and the work is in progress. The Minister said the pre-settled water will be supplied within three months. He said presently the water is being provided through hand pumps and occasionally through water tankers.

The Minister further said that in Gulbugh the WSS stands approved under NRDWP at an estimated cost of Rs 266.78 lakh against which Rs 265.37 lakh stand utilized upto September 2015. He said the main components like 0.40 lakh gallons overhead tank, PST, clear water sump, clariflorculator and pipe distribution/main sub-mains stand completed. He said water to Gulbugh is presently being provided by direct boosting from Lar Nallah and supplemented by tanker services. He said the scheme needs revision for completion of filtration plant and revised DPR is under preparation.

The Minister said that the lift scheme Trich was approved for an amount of Rs 184 lakh which stands expended in full. He said the main component like 40,000 Gallons OHT, chowkidar quarter/mains/sub-mains stand completed. He said the scheme needs revision for completion and revised DPR is under preparation. He said the water is presently being provided from WSS Ratnipora and supplemented by tanker services.

The Minister said village Dogam falls under the scope of WSS Mirbagh Dogam which is a lift scheme with Nallah Romshee as source approved for an amount of Rs 200 lakh against which Rs 199.97 lakh stands utilized upto September 2015. He said water to village Dogam is presently supplied from 0.50 lakh Glns OHT constructed under the said scheme.The Minister said that Palpora Wahipora comes under the scope of water supply scheme Palpora Astanpora (total scope of scheme is 9 villages) with an estimated cost of Rs 507 lakh against which an amount of Rs 392.50 lakh have been released/utilized upto 09/2015.

The Minister said that the scheme is ongoing under NRDWP and is targeted for completion for the year 2016-17.  He said the main components of the scheme viz; construction 0.15 MGD Rapid Sand Filtration Plant, 0.75 lakh Glns Capacity SR, Pumps House-cum-Operators quarter stands completed. The Minister said the scheme is 70% completed as on date. He said at present the water is supplied partially from WSS Chandgam, Wasoora.
