The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh said the Government endeavors to improve and upgrade the power scenario in the State adding that in this regard funds are being arranged under various schemes in Sate and Central sectors.This was stated by the Deputy Chief Minister while replying to the supplementaries raised by some members to the main question by Mr. Raja Manzoor here in the House.The Deputy Chief Minister said under Din Dayal Upadaye Gramin Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), the Centre has approved Rs 530 crore for J&K. He said under this scheme the power infrastructure would be upgraded in all the constituencies.

Replying to the main question, the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Ashraf Mir told the House that JKSPDC Ltd. has prepared pre-feasibility report for upgradation of Karnah Hydro Electric Project (HEP) from 2MW to 12 MW.The Minister said that in this regard a consultant has been engaged by JKSPDC for upgradation of Detailed Project Report (DPR). He said a draft DPR has been submitted by the consultant which is under appraisal adding that after preparation of final DPR further steps will be taken by the Government.Legislators, Mr. Dina Nath, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, Mr. Mohammad Abbas Wani, Mr. Neelam Kumar Langeh and Mr. Yawar Ahmed Mir raised the supplementaries and highlighted their demands.
