A joint team of different enforcement departments Saturday charged Rs 14400 as fine to erring traders during market checking in Ramban town.The team comprising officers from Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Municipal Committee Ramban, Police Department besides other agencies conducted market checking in Ramban town to ensure that people get quality edibles and essential commodities at reasonable rates, especially during festive period.The team during checking also seized rotten and substandard food items, vegetables, fruits and sweets.An amount of Rs.10100 was recovered as fine including Rs 5800 by the MC and Rs 4300 by the CAPD Department.Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Ramban also booked six traders for violation.The LMD team compounded five challans   on the spot and recovered a penalty of Rs 4300 from the erring traders. They directed all traders to use only verified weight and measures for business transactions and asked them to desist from using unfair trade practices. They also appealed to the consumers to remain vigilant.
