Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu has expressed hope that the people of Haryana would cast their votes in the upcoming Panchayat Elections and elect educated local leaders.Addressing media persons at the BJP Office here today, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the State Government wants that not only educated people are elected to the panchayats, but also that only such people contest elections who have no criminal record. This is why amendments have been made to the Panchayati Raj Act in the Vidhan Sabha. This is a historical step taken by the Haryana Government, he added. The Finance Minister said that Panchayat Elections have been announced in the State and the State Government was committed to conducting them in a transparent manner. He said that there would be effective and better governance when educated people with good character are elected to Panchayati Raj Institutions in rural areas. He added that the party had decided in principle not to contest the elections with the party symbol.

While commenting on the recently concluded Vidhan Sabha session, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the state government had no objection in working with opposition leaders to resolve the issues pertaining to people and development of the State. Development of the State is the only aim of the Government. He added that the present government had set new precedents in the Vidhan Sabha this time. While the previous governments used to find ways to get opposition leaders expelled from the Assembly and the opposition had to conduct proceedings outside the House, no such incident took place this time
