Reacting to a derogatory statement of a mainstream leader regarding Article 35-A, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and Awami Mutihada Mahaz (AMM) leader Hakim Mohammad Yasin Thursday said no one should try to become the so-called champions of rights of Kashmiris.“A leader has issued a statement that MLAs shouldn’t become the tools of New Delhi in Kashmir regarding Article 35-A which has hurt the sentiments of all pro-Kashmir legislators. But I want to convey to the said leader that protecting rights of Kashmiris is our national issue and we don’t need lectures on it,” Hakim Yasin, who represents Khansahib constituency in the Assembly, said in a press statement.

“Our stand is that not only Article 35-A, but pre-1953 position should be restored in Jammu and Kashmir. These so called leaders issue non-sense statements to hurt the sentiments of pro-Kashmir people. They shouldn’t try to become the so-called champions of rights of Kashmiris as people know them very well,” he added. The PDF chief also demand for establishment of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) be established in Kashmir for equitable progress in the State. He urged the Union Government to work on equitable infrastructure development and employment generation in the State so that a workforce is produced which could ultimately find job opportunities anywhere in the world.“Setting up of quality educational and technical institutions in Kashmir is a need of the hour as the Valley provides a perfect ambiance to be developed into an educational hub in the region,” the AMM leader added.
