Man dies running for life in quake-hit Nepal

A 72-year-old man died on Sunday in Nepal's Lalitpur district while running out of his house after a 4.2 magnitude tremor rocked the area.The tremor, at 3.23 p.m., had its epicentre in Kavre -- barely 25km from Kathmandu.The deceased was identified as Shankha Bahadur Nagarkoti of Karya Binayak locality of Lalitpur, a police spokesperson said. Nagarkoti, who was lying on the bed inside the house when the quake occurred, got up in a hurry and rushed out -- he fell down on the way and was declared dead when taken to hospital, police spokesperson Krishna Singh Thapa.

With Nagarkoti's death, the toll in Lalitpur district in the recent quakes reached 117.According to the National Seismological Centre, so far four earthquakes measuring above four on the Richter scale were recorded Sunday.Also, 160 aftershocks above four Richter scale have been recorded after the 7.9 magnitude quake on April 25 which claimed 8,019 lives.A statement from the home ministry placed the number of injured at 17,866. The April 25 quake, the worst to hit Nepal after 1934, led to widespread destruction across the country.
